Kattarauga, Ashreppur

Kattarauga was protected as a natural monument in 1975. The pond Kattarauga is a deep pit that contains two floating islets that drift in the wind. There is a large and constant flow through the pond. At the bottom of the pond is a lake eye that sparkles on bright, still days. The pond is named after the lake eye. Vegetation in the area is typical Icelandic wetlands flora.
