Park Rangers at Geysir noticed increased activity in the geothermal area over the weekend. Óþerrishola, Smiður, Fata, Konungshver, Blesi, along with other hot springs, have been boiling vigorously and/or erupting in small bursts.

This is highly unusual as these hot springs are usually inactive, let alone all at the same time.

The water level in Blesi has dropped by approximately 40-50 cm, and by 20-30 cm in Konungshver.

We ask our visitors to exercise extra caution around the geothermal area and to stay on the designated paths.
